Welcome to the Grass Lake Historic Walking Tour, where you can step back in time and explore the rich history of our charming downtown. A great place to start is Lot B, conveniently located behind Cattleman’s, where you can park, grab a snack, and begin your journey through our community’s past. This self-guided loop will lead you through significant landmarks and stories, bringing you right back to your starting point.
We extend our deepest gratitude to our local historians James Damaron and Marilyn O’Leary for their invaluable contributions in making this tour possible. Grass Lake is also home to a dedicated historical society, and if you’d like to support their efforts, donations can be made to the Coe House at its listed address.
For those interested in exploring more of our area’s past, local historian Linda Hutchinson offers Grass Lake cemetery tours, sharing fascinating stories of those who shaped our community. Tours can be scheduled by emailing her at lmhutch48@gmail.com or calling 517-403-3805. Donations to support local history preservation can be made to the Grass Lake Area Historical Society, P.O. Box 782, 371 West Michigan Avenue, Grass Lake, MI 49240.
If you have a piece of Grass Lake’s history to share, we’d love to hear from you- your stories help keep our history alive!
