About the Board

Our Goal

After more than 20 years of dedicated effort and investment, Downtown Grass Lake is thriving like never before. Our vision and commitment to serving as the heart of the community will guide us into a new era of growth and development. Since its inception, the Grass Lake Development Authority (DDA) has focused on ensuring the long-term vitality of our downtown through strategic investments in infrastructure, landscaping, marketing, and business support. Together, we are building a stronger, more resilient, and vibrant future for our community.

Board of Directors

A thirteen-member Board of Directors appointed by the Village Council, is chaired by Mark Burnett. Village President David Keener serves on the Board and nominates members. Board Members represent business and property owners, and residents of the community. The DDA Board meets on the second Monday of each month at the Village Hall at 119 N Lake Street, at 6:30 p.m. Its meetings are open to the public.

Duties & Responsibilites

Downtown Development Authority Board members are expected to:

Advise and approve the annual DDA budget.
Set the vision for the downtown and organization.
Attend all Board meetings.
Review monthly agendas, staff reports, committee reports, and relevant documents.

Dates & Times

Meetings of the DDA Board of Directors are held in the Village Hall. Regular meetings of are typically held on the second Monday of every month at 6:30 pm. Village of Grass Lake 119 N Lake St, Grass Lake, MI 49240

*Informational Meetings

Informational meetings will take place in June and October at 6:30 pm, directly preceding the regularly scheduled DDA meetings. These sessions are required under Public Act 57 and provide an overview of the DDA’s activities, finances, and upcoming projects. They are an opportunity for community members, business owners, and taxing jurisdictions to learn how DDA funds are being used, what improvements are underway, and what initiatives are planned for the year. Anyone interested in the work of the DDA is welcome to attend.

Members of the public are always welcome to attend and share their voice, but we welcome electronic input on our agendas as well. Please contact us at dda@villageofgrasslake.com or 517-914-1052. if you have comments or questions about our meetings. Messages received will be distributed to the Board of Directors but will not be read during the meeting unless you specify that you would like it to be read.
